About Us

Gates Manufacturing was started by Michael and Pat Gates in the early 1970's as an OEM harrow tine manufacturer and general metal fabrication and repair contractor for the local region.  Their farming experience coupled with the need for better farm products is the foundation of the current business.  The plant was built and is still operated in a rural farming region near Lansford, North Dakota.

Gates Manufacturing now manufactures a full line of residue management equipment that meets the farming needs and trends of modern agriculture in an ever changing market.  We strive for exceptional service and affordability with our product lines.  As a small manufacturer, we are flexible and offer customization to products that large manufacturers do not provide.

As our product line continues to evolve, we value the feedback from our customers and often rely on them for product improvements and ideas.  We enjoy a working relationship with Eco-Mulch (France), Beulah Enterprises (Australia), and Agro Soyuz (Ukraine) to develop and market our products overseas.  In 1999, Gates Manufacturing was recognized as the "Small Business Exporter of the Year" by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the "North Dakota Global Enterprise of the Year" by the North Dakota District Export Council.

As farming practices continue to change, we will strive to meet those changes with equipment that meets and exceeds our customers expectations.
